Things to Do in Mtskheta
Georgia's ancient capital is barely 25 minutes north of Tbilisi at the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers, small enough to see on a half-day trip rather than needing a full one. Svetitskhoveli Cathedral and the hilltop Jvari Monastery, both UNESCO-listed, are the reasons to come, and most tours pair them with Ananuri or the wider Kartli region on the same run out of the city. The town itself is a handful of streets, so budget your time at the two churches rather than around them.
