Things to Do in Racha

Racha is a mountainous, sparsely visited region around four hours from Tbilisi, known within Georgia mainly for Khvanchkara, the semi-sweet red wine said to have been Stalin's favourite, and for Nikortsminda Cathedral's carved stone facade. Shaori Lake and the villages around Oni and Ambrolauri offer hiking and quiet scenery without the tour buses of Kazbegi or Kakheti.
