Things to Do at Martvili Canyon

Martvili Canyon, about an hour from Kutaisi, is a narrow limestone gorge with turquoise water running through it, toured mainly by short rowing-boat ride rather than on foot — the boats are the main attraction and queues build fast in midsummer. The smaller, less-visited Balda Canyon nearby offers a similar walk without the wait if the crowds put you off. Bring a swimsuit; some sections allow a short swim when water levels are low.
